Awaiting a Quantum Leap

When one speaks about any dimension beyond the body and mind, it is naturally taken up with certain amount of disbelief. When it is spelt as Divine then it is often smelt with scepticism. But in fact, this in itself is the motivating force to unravel the mystery of knowing the Self and the Universe. These challenges though a mystery, have a quantum leap waiting to reveal its secrets. Our burning urge can fuel up this quantum leap and further evolve us into a better Self. Can Self improvement be denied for long?

Let's check with such improvements in the physical and mental paradigms. Air travel has made us communicate with the other parts of the world faster by overcoming the physical obstacles. Overcoming gravity has taken us in search of newer worlds on the physical paradigm.

Similarly, thought and information can be communicated without delay, without cables. If our imagination  could tap into the potentials of our mind  and could achieve this in a span of few centuries the eternal wisdom yet unravelled, or lost in the oblivion can be well accepted as a more achievable futuristic challenge. An attempt to achieve it, even if it meant to take off and transcend over the existing realms of  body and mind cannot be dismissed  as a mere irrational effort.

The perishable existence of the body that we understand as life, the various patterns in which it takes forms and manifests in Nature, the connect with which everything is interwoven in a fabric of formation, function and transformation suggests a cosmic design and indicates the Will of the Universal Consciousness to help life to evolve into better paradigms in times to come.

My elementary knowledge and the crudeness of my Intellect have still managed to fuel my urge to evolve into such a Better Self. But the baffling portion of life with its virtues and vices, desires and delusions, needs and greed, contribution and competition, confluence and conflicts, seeps as much energy as much as it seeks attention. 

It aggrieves the physical, mental and emotional quotients, living a very battered ship to battle the storms of spiritual evolution. But before we usher ourselves for a quantum leap, the Sails (Knowledge) and the anchors (Intellect), need to be prepared, to sustain the journey towards our common destination.

Pick up your Soul

These days the word soul is used to glamorise curries, soups and other rich delicacies. The word ‘soulful’ can easily be transfixed as an adjective to handful, mouthful and other pocketful packages. The serenity, sanctity and sincerity of the word however gets ‘dropped’ somewhere and so does its purpose. 

On the other hand, stringent pursuits and predispositions are attached to this soulful quest in spiritual texts and scriptures. Going overboard and making spirituality an objective achievement also doesn’t somewhere fit into the basic idea.

Making a mountain out of a mole only distances us from being Soulful and then we decide to leave spirituality as something that simply needs to be discovered in the Heights of Himalayas or isolation of some caves. Some of our experiences in life, though ordinary to look at, convey extraordinary meaning. Essence of our true ‘Self’ is what we could "pick" up in the process.

I vividly remember organizing a drawing competition in a small neighboring village for high school students in an attempt to bring the talent out of them and make them socially aware. The topic given was ‘Service’. I saw a small boy of 5-6years of age sitting in a corner much to our surprise. Just out of curiosity we gathered around him. He was engrossed in his painting and what started appearing on the white paper was small hand. “It is the hand of God,” said one of our friends. “It should be the hand of a farmer; remember this is a village,” observed a typically urbanized learned friend of ours. Another one remarked that it could just be a child’s hand. The child looked at us with a smile that could beat a million words. When he had finished his painting, he submitted it to us. The Heading read: ‘A Hand Ready to Serve’.

Breaking ourselves into various role and goals in Life, get us into details and discussions that take us away from the sense of fulfilment that they can offer. Small experiences like these reinstate the awareness that is required to keep the flame of Spirituality glowing within us, “picking up our Soul” to connect it back with ourselves and with our lives.

Spirituality

I always had an amazing fascination about the way Life happens to each one of us in a very different way. It is like a journey in which everyone is on a quest that takes us through the various levels of exploration, experiences and experiments. This journey takes amazing twists and turns, going through the highs and lows, pleasures and pain, success and failures bringing forth a plethora of emotions that stay within us, grow within us and either make or break us.

Everything in life is like a Big bang that either breaks things around us into pieces or directs it towards fulfilment and peace. Every one of us has an ability to connect with life in an unique fashion and find our own art of living it by cultivating our thoughts and responses.

The patterns of our mind and our habits apparently take shape in quite a random fashion. Though environmental factors do affect them, inherently there are certain preferences with which we connect with our lives. These preferences are constantly seeking fulfilment and so can be called our Desires.

Everyone one of us are thus born with some traits that start defining our individuality and the way we deal with our desires and the life that is happening to us. Also, since such uniqueness creates individual perspectives, our interaction and involvement in each other’s lives can snowball into possibilities beyond decisive anticipation.

We human beings however, are gifted with amazing faculties that can go beyond mundane needs of nourishment, rest, reproduction and defence. We are gifted with a free-will to experiment with our lives, as seeded by our desires. So the way our thoughts deal with our free-will decides our Fate.

Since at every given point of Time we know certain things and we certainly do not know some, we constantly are either living our life by digging into our past experiences or anxiously waiting for our Future.

Though our memory and imagination keep on feeding on to our abilities to effectively deal with such uncertainty, our emotions often cloud our thinking and makes things difficult. This is when we come to know the limits of our faculties.

But there is one more ability that can be developed if one observes the detailed built-in connect in nature that takes care of everything that is appearing, growing and perishing. Such a connect, empirically suggests a wonderful design that essentially links everything that is dividing and multiplying, in a principle of mystic unica ( mysterious union).

This starts configuring our faculties to bridge the missing links of our quest, overcoming the limitations of our Faculties into a Dimension that goes beyond Time and Space yet keeps us at Peace. That dimension is Spirituality.
